Celebrating November

Summer Solstice Sunrises

6 November

Spectacular sunrises through November showed us how quickly the sun moves across the sky as we approach the summer solstice in New Zealand on the 21st or 22nd December.  At the December solstice the Sun has moved to its southernmost point, which is why we see through the month of November the sun has changed from rising directly over the centre of Rangitoto Island, to rising from the right (or south) by the end of the month.

27 November

Radiant red skies in the mornings, gave weight to the old saying of “Red sky in the morning, Shepherd’s warning…”, as the day ahead was followed with clouds and rain.

Traveling with Heart

We were delighted to welcome a few special guests in November. We had a return visit from the stunning Juliette Perkins who tugged at our heart strings by visiting with her gorgeous 2-year old daughter and talented home grown footballer baby daddy Myer Bevan. Beautiful people, inside and out, we were amazed at how humble they were and grateful to these New Zealand born international talents, for how easily they shared their experiences and passion for what they did with our children.  Inspirational New Zealand success stories.

We were also the first stop in New Zealand for Eileen Rhein, esq. and her parents (@lighttravelsfaster) who is a Canadian based in New York, visiting New Zealand to promote New Zealand tourism through her fashion and lifestyle sites.

Restaurant Recommendation – Good Hood Eatery

Locals have been watching with eager anticipation as our local Castor Bay café was reopened this month. The Good Hood Eatery offers the usual breakfast favourites such as Smashed Avocado, Wild Mushrooms and some with a bit of a twist like the Pork Belly Benedict, as well as a few more international dishes such as the Filipino style meatballs, the Karaage Chicken Croissant, Bang Bang Chicken soba noodles, and the Philly Cheesesteak (sliced sirloin, caramelised onion and melted provolone).
