Spring Special

"Is the Spring coming? he said. “What’s it like?”…
“It is the sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the sunshine.”
Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden

Celebrating August

The last official month of winter in New Zealand. The ski fields were open and the skies were clear as Kiwis and visitors alike took to the slopes.

Congratulations to Spain on winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup final in Sydney on 20 August. What a wonderful privilege it was to have New Zealand host some of the games to show off our spectacular country.

New Zealand Fashion Week at the end of August was an exciting event celebrating the best of the best in Aotearoa. It was especially exciting for us here at Elements as we were privileged to have front row seats to support the wonderful Samantha Zhang of www.samanthazhangdesign.com

On the last day of August we saw the spectacular sight of the Super Blue Moon for the first time in 14 years, the combination of a supermoon that is also the second full moon in a calendar month making it a Super Full Moon. Estimated to be about 20,000 kms closer to us than normal.

Elements in the Community - Westlake Boys Running Team

Elements was delighted to support the Fundraiser for the Westlake Boys Running Team and their trip to Kenya in 2024. In addition to helping keen Westlake runners enjoy the trip of a lifetime to Kenya, the support also helped buying sports gear and sports uniform for the boys to donate to Abel Kirui (World Double Marathon Champion) to develop sports provisions for his school the "Little Joy Academy. Well done Westlake Boys!

Restaurant Recommendation – The Engine Room

Only 6.5 kms from Elements is the Engine Room in Birkenhead Point. A favourite for many on the menu is the Twice-Baked Goat’s Cheese Souffle followed by the Duck Confit, Kumara Purée, Pickled Cherries, Chard, Jus, or perhaps the Braised Beef Cheek, Parsnip Puree, Pickled Carrot, Prunes.

From the Owner/Operators, “It goes without saying that we cook seasonally. Wherever possible, we use local product or grow it ourselves. While good produce and technique are at the heart of what we do, we believe that the best meals are about the experience. All dishes are inevitably tied to a memory: where you ate it, who you were with, the surroundings, the weather, the ambience — these all contribute to the taste of a dish.”
